Lunalay Hammocks

While living in a tiny, studio apartment awaiting the birth of our first child, my husband and I were contemplating how we were going to fit a bassinet or crib into such a small space. I stumbled upon the ancient practice of using a baby hammock. This was in 2010, there were a few companies who had modernized the idea, and were making some very lovely, yet expensive hammocks for babies. Since they didn’t fit our budget at the time, I decided to create my own baby hammock and this is how my journey in hammock making began.

My son loved his hammock, as did I. While he was sweetly dreaming away, I was a bustle of activity, catching up on all that I couldn’t do while holding him in my arms. I brought it with me everywhere I could, on trips to the river and even camping. It was such a useful tool as a new mother, I wanted to share this gift with others.

In 2011, When my son grew out of his baby hammock, I came up with a new design. I wanted the hammock to last beyond one year. I created a baby hammock that could transform into a children’s chair swing. Now my son could continue napping in his favorite place and swing in it for fun as well. My two boys still swing in their hammock daily.
