Lyman High - Institute for Engineering

The Institute is one of Seminole County's Magnet Programs. The Institute is a college preparatory program for students that are interested in pursuing a career in one of the numerous areas within the field of Engineering. The program is strongly based in math and science.

Starting in Fall 2012: We have some very exciting news about the Engineering Institute: We have received approval to implement a new curriculum and program, Project Lead the Way, in our Institute for Engineering Magnet Program. The Lyman engineering faculty is eager to start Project Lead the Way as it is a nationally and internationally renowned program. The structure of the program will change slightly as all students will take one foundational engineering course their freshmen and sophomore year. During their junior year students can take one, two, or three engineering specialization courses. Senior year will encompass a senior research class where students will be able to work on a comprehensive senior project. During their senior year students can also take another engineering specialization if they have an opening in their schedule. Please understand that this new program will not affect your child’s schedule. The Project Lead the Way course will only take up one elective class each year.
