M5 Espresso

M5 Espresso is a craft coffee shop dedicated to creating simple, coffee-forward drinks from the best ingredients available.

M5 was the brainchild of the owner of Cinema Elements, an audio/visual company based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Having grown up in New York City, he found himself frustrated that he couldn't find a cafe in Cincinnati making coffee of the same quality as he had found in New York. When Cinema Elements found themselves in need of a new retail space, the owner saw an opportunity to build a combination business in the Hyde Park neighborhood. He found a space right on the historic Hyde Park square, and began the long process of building out a cafe-showroom.

He initially partnered with Stumptown Coffee Roasters, an acclaimed roaster from Portland, Oregon, and began stocking the bar with the best brewing equipment currently on the market, at the center of which was a state of the art, hand-built Slayer Espresso machine - the first of its kind in the city. Finally, with the build out complete, he found himself searching for a expert barista to take M5 from a beautifully built space to a full service cafe. He found this craftsman in the form of Alex Evans. Alex picked up where the owner had left off, expanding the menu into to include pour over and cold drip coffees, and bringing on board a selection of incredible roasters from around the country.

Currently, the roasters in rotation on the bar are Heart Roasters, Sightglass Coffee, Novel Coffee Roasters, Parlor Coffee, Steadfast, and Madcap.

The cafe is open from 8 to 5 Monday through Friday and 8 to 4 on the weekends.
