More about Magee Womancare International

Our Scope:

Our international experience and expertise in women’s health led us to become a prominent organization that brings health education programs and technical assistance to the international community.

MWI's program topic have included: maternal and fetal care, reproductive health, gynecological care, infectious disease (HIV/AIDS), breast health care, health and safety from sexual & gender-based violence, care for aging women, environmental health, capacity building, and leadership.

Our geographic reach now extends throughout Russia and NIS countries, Central and Southeast Europe, South Asia, Middle East, and Latin America. MWI has networked with more than 30 women's health education centers that offer programs in preventative health to more than 100,000 women and girls annually and supplemented centers by providing original educational health brochures, instructional videos, leadership training for health professionals, and a nonprofit management training curriculum. Our approach is to work with international NGO partners to identify local needs, resources, and community capabilities to determine areas of focus for individual programs.

In addition to our international outreach, MWI engages in local community outreach by providing health education and support services to minority populations, immigrants, refugees, and under-served women and children in the Pittsburgh area.

What We Do: Advocate, Educate, Train,

MWI is dedicated to promoting safe, modern, and dignified health care for women and their families around the world through women’s wellness clinics, obstetrics reform, training programs, and clinical outreach. To foster community networking and personal growth in countries undergoing health care reform, MWI encourages and supports coordination of women’s health programs and events.

Health education and community outreach are low-cost, high-impact interventions that empower women to make informed choices about health care. Informed women are able to assume greater responsibility for their health, improving health outcomes for themselves and their families. MWI has found that, in many countries, most access to health information occurs with health professionals in clinical settings. Yet there are numerous opportunities to empower and inform women in the community. MWI works with local partners to develop and facilitate successful educational outreach models.
