Welcome to Main and Elm (formally Main Street Coffee and Roasting Company)

Main & Elm is owned by the Lutticken’s Inc., which already has four other Peninsula locations, is known for its sandwiches, said owner Bob Lutticken who has already taken over the business which formally housed the Main Street Coffee and Roasting Company. “We have a reputation of having really good sandwiches,” he said. Popular sellers include soy meatball sandwiches, turkey sandwiches and burritos both for breakfast and lunch.

Lutticken’s already has one location in Redwood City at the Stanford Outpatient Clinic, as well as a location in Menlo Park and two locations at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto.

To what does he attribute his company’s success?
“Our success is made by my employees,” he said. “I have very loyal employees, some who have been with me for 30 years.”

Lutticken is planning to remodel the back patio and warehouse area of the Main Street Coffee Company building so that it resembles the Lutticken’s location in Menlo Park which serves as a popular wine bar after 5pm. Plans are to offer beer and wine to the Main and Elm location.

Another change customers will notice will be the name. He plans to rename the business Lutticken’s Main and Elm to attract even more diverse customer base.

He said he plans to keep the same hours that Springer had. He hired all the crew so they didn’t lose their jobs and also did not want to change things too much. “We want current customers to feel like very little has changed in their home away from home,” Lutticken said.

He is happy to be expanding in Redwood City.

“I think it’s a great place,” he said. “The whole area is growing and we want to be a part of it. We’ll have an opportunity to do well. It’s going to be a family atmosphere as usual.”
