The gallery at Mainely Pottery features well-designed pottery in stoneware, porcelain, earthenware and raku clays made by 30 professional Maine potters. You can find beautiful porcelain bowls with ocean designs, colorful hand painted mugs with a blueberries design, the warm earth tones of pots fired in a wood kiln and stunning raku lamps. As working potters, we are familiar with the kinds of challenges involved in turning clay shapes through fire into desirable and useful objects. There is some skill and some magic. When you come here we hope to give you a sense of this.
Adjacent to the gallery is the studio of Jamie Oates, where you are welcome to stop in and watch work in progress. Occasionally, you may even see a raku firing. We look forward to showing you some of Maine’s finest craftsmanship.
