Mandarin Immersion Magnet School

Mandarin Immersion Magnet School (MIMS) is a K-8 school in the Houston Independent School District! MIMS is located in Houston, Texas and serves the entire HISD community.

The school opened in August 2012, initially serving grades PK-2. We are expanding our Mandarin Immersion program to grade 6 this school year (2016-17). We are very proud to be the first 100% dedicated Mandarin language immersion magnet school in Texas, and look forward to serving our community for a long time.

In November of 2012, Houston voters approved the HISD bond, which not only meant that MIMS would receive a brand new multi-million dollar building, but would also become a campus serving grades PK-8! In the coming years we will be adding grade levels to our middle school immersion curriculum which continues our commitment to excellent instruction and rigorous academics.
