The MAPS Community Volunteer Program is a central volunteer services office that matches up teachers and school staff with willing volunteers that help out as tutors in classrooms, afterschool programs and resource rooms. Volunteers also help with clerical duties and special events.
Volunteers help to extend the resources of our public school system by
1. supporting and assisting teachers and staff
2. decreasing student/adult ratio
3. allowing teachers and staff to devote more of their energy to the professional skills they are trained to do.
This all helps to increase overall academic achievement and self esteem of the students. Volunteering enriches a child’s experience at MAPS and extends to their life as well.
