Shannon's focus is developing riders to master a solid foundation of balance, relaxation and communication through biomechanics and Classical Dressage fundamentals. Shannon has trained over the years following the German Training Scale and continues to follow this system with USDF and CADORA standards and specifications.
Shannon has worked for and trained with some of Canada's and USA's top riders and trainers, including 30+ years of breaking, starting and riding young horses/stallions/horses possessing specific training challenges. Shannon has a passion for teaching riders how to not just sit on their horse but to ride like an athlete, become stronger and only then they can the rider let go and become lighter and more sensitive to the horse. Shannon works with riders to let go of fears, tension and connect with their horse without any gadgets or shortcuts. Shannon insists all riders develop a correct, well balanced independent seat as a foundation. All riders must master the trot and canter without stirrups before graduating on to learning proper contact. Riders learn to ride by feel and become in sync with the horses movement by proper use of their bodies and clear understanding of how to use aides. Riders gain a true understanding of how to communicate with their horses so they are able to ride and progress correctly with confidence. Shannon's passion is to develop riders skill and confidence so they are capable of riding even the most challenging horses.
