Originally established by Marc E. Wietschner, MD on Hillside Avenue in Queens Village, this state of the art ophthalmology facility relocated to Floral Park, Long Island in 2013. To provide patients with the best ophthalmologic medical and surgical care, the office was outfitted with sophisticated ophthalmology diagnostic and imaging systems, a laser treatment suite, and an ambulatory minor surgery procedure room. Our offices were tastefully designed to provide patients with the highest quality individualized care. The facility is wheelchair accessible & spacious.

About Dr.Wietschner:
Marc E. Wietschner, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has been providing personalized comprehensive ophthalmology care, to patients both young and old, in Queens and Nassau Counties for over 17 years.

Dr. Wietschner graduated from the prestigious Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY, with honors in research, in 1990. He then completed a rigorous ophthalmology residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. Dr. Wietschner continued with subspecialty retina fellowship training at the same institution, focusing on the treatment of diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. Dr. Wietschner has been in private practice since graduating and maintains teaching and medical privileges at local hospitals.

As a comprehensive ophthalmologist, Dr. Wietschner has extensive experience treating patients with multiple eye conditions including: dry-eye syndrome, blepharitis, corneal disease, cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, retinal/ macular/ vitreous degeneration, as well as eye complications arising from medical conditions.

To serve his patients better, Dr. Wietschner is involved in residency training, regularly attends ophthalmology meetings, and keeps abreast of the latest ophthalmology literature. Dr. Wietschner is also strongly committed to utilizing the safest, least invasive, and predictable microsurgical techniques when he operates. For years, Dr. Wietschner has been employing small-incision, self-sealing, no-stitch surgical tecgniques for cataract surgery. He also offers toric and multifocal lens implants to decrease dependence on glasses following cataract surgery.

To provide added convenience and safety for his patients, Dr. Wietschner established a dedicated laser surgery suite in his office to treat patients with glaucoma, macular, and retinal diseases, as well as other eye conditions.

About Dr. Pikus:
Dr. Olga Pikus is an optometrist who recently joined Dr. Marc Wietschner at Comprehensive Eye MD.

Dr. Pikus graduated with honors from Pace University in 2009, where she received her Bachelors of Science degree in Biology. While at Pace University, Dr. Pikus received a four year Dean’s scholarship for her academic and extracurricular achievements. While at Pace University, Dr. Pikus was involved in a wide variety of biologic and health science related research, where she augmented her passion for her career in optometry. Dr. Pikus completed a four year rigorous program at Pace University within just three years.

She was accepted into the 7 year Joint Degree Program at SUNY College of Optometry where she began her optometric education in 2008. While at SUNY College of Optometry, Dr. Pikus was involved in many aspects of eye care. She completed internal and external rotations in many disciplines including pediatric, vision therapy, contact lens, head trauma, and ocular disease. Upon her graduation in 2012, Dr. Pikus received numerous awards including Vistakon national Contact lens award, GCPI award, and distinction from an honor society.

Due to her continued passion for providing quality care for her patients, Dr. Pikus went on to obtain additional training, completing a residency in Ocular Disease from SUNY College of Optometry. She began her joint residency training at SUNY College of Optometry and Woodhull Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. During her training, Dr. Pikus was exposed to all forms of ocular pathology; diagnosis, treatment and management. She worked side by side with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals providing routine and emergency eye care. Dr. Pikus obtained supervising and teaching privileges both at SUNY College of Optometry and Woodhull Medical Center.

After completing her training in June 2013, Dr. Pikus went on to private practice. She joined Dr. Wietschner in July 2013 and has been working at Comprehensive Eye MD since. Among other aspects of eye care provided at Comprehensive Eye MD, Dr. Pikus has a subspecialty in contact lens fittings including but not limited to keratoconus.

From Cross Island Parkway:
Cross Island Parkway to Exit 27 (Jericho Turnpike/ Jamaica Ave/ NY-25) merge onto the 224th street. Take first right onto Jericho Turnpike. Continue East for approximately 1.5 miles. House address numbers will increase as you travel East. However, after passing Little Neck Parkway/ Tulip Avenue, the address numbers will restart low and increase to 342 Jericho Turnpike.
Public Transportation:
The N24 bus line will conveniently leave you a half a block away from the office. Ask the bus driver to let you off the bus at Linden Avenue.
