The Marion Public School System is located near the center of the Lower Peninsula, approximately 20 miles southeast of Cadillac. The district area is rural, consisting of farmland, woodlands, streams, and rivers that are popular with vacationers, hunters and fishermen.

Our district is more than 30 miles long and nearly 20 miles wide, containing approximately 87 sq. miles. The district contains three villages, Marion, Temple, and Dighton. We border the following school districts: Cadillac, McBain, Harrison, Farwell, Evart, and Pine River.

Standard and Poor’s “School Matters”, The United States Census, and the State of Michigan are the references used for our demographic data. There are 4,352 people and 1,755 households residing in the school district. 26.9% of the population are aged 19 or younger.

The school district presently has about 622 students attending one of two schools which are located 1.2 miles apart.

The Marion Elementary has 304 students grade K-6. The Middle School/High School has 318 students.
There is a pre-K organization operates that within the Elementary Building.

Marion is classified by the MHSAA as a class D school and is a proud member of the of the Wexford-Missaukee Intermediate School District.

Both Marion Schools are fully accredited by the State of Michigan Accreditation System.
