The Martin Police Department serves Martin City in the Heart
of Floyd County Kentucky. There are currently 5 officers serving
approximately 800 residents but the commuter traffic is
upwards of 30,000 per day on KY HWY 80. KY 80 is a major
highway through Martin with a vast number of hazardous
and controlled materials transported daily. Martin Police
Department serves a large infrastructure in a high risk flood
area. Six schools are within first responder range of the Police
Department. All Martin Police Officers are required to complete
the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training's Police
Academy and do 40hours continuing education annually
thereafter in addition to in house training.
