About the teacher:
Mary Hwang
Mary Hwang holds a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Northern Illinois University. Ms. Hwang has won a number of national competitions including the National Concerto Competition, Piano Teacher’s Society of America Competition, and placed among the finalists in various international competitions. Ms. Hwang has performed in many venues across the country including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York as well as collaborating with top musicians such as members of the Vermeer String Quartet and the Avalon String Quartet. In addition to teaching at Kishwaukee College and Northern Illinois University, Ms Hwang also teaches students throughout the Chicago suburbs. Ms. Hwang’s teachers have included Prof. Paul Hoffmann of Rutgers University, Dr. William Goldenberg of Northern Illinois University, and currently, Dr. Sylvia Wang of Northwestern University. In addition to the music credentials, Ms. Hwang also holds a Bachelors of Arts in Child Psychology from Rutgers University.
