Howard R. Schatz DVM

Dr. Howard Schatz is a native of New York City, having been born in Brooklyn, raised in Queens and having graduated from Jamaica High School. He attended Cornell University, receiving his undergraduate degree in Biology. He is a 1975 graduate of the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. After gaining valuable experience working in other hospitals, including an emergency clinic, Dr. Schatz arrived in Massapequa in 1978. He and Dr. Fish purchased the Massapequa Hospital for Animals in 1982. Dr, Schatz is happily married and has 3 sons and 2 daughters. He is now also blessed with 2 grandsons. His professional interests include internal medicine, orthopedic surgery and practice management. He is an avid Yankees fan and enjoys family time.


Stanley G. Fish DVM

Dr. Stan Fish earned both his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees at Cornell University. He is a native Long Islander originally from New Hyde Park and currently resides in Merrick with his fantastic wife Sari and amazing daughter Simona. Their son, Benjamin and wife Bashi have sons Jacob and Jonah. Their other son, Judah and wife Chaya have three children; Menucha, Simcha, and Temima. Stan is often heard commenting: if he knew grandchildren were so good, he would have had them first. Stan has always been active in sports (soccer, racquetball, golf), community and synagogue affairs, and Cornell alumni activities. If you don’t see Dr. Fish in the office, he is probably relaxing on a Caribbean beach.


Paul K. LaPorta DVM

Dr. Paul LaPorta, a native from Queens, New York, earned his Bachelor of Science from New York University. Dr. LaPorta obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Cornell University in 1987. Upon graduation, he joined Massapequa Hospital for Animals and has been there ever since. He lives in Blue Point with his wife Bernadette and their youngest daughter Emily, 2 cats Sabrina and Sully, 2 dogs Chez-ster and Chase and a rabbit Cailee. Their other two children Paul and Katie attend school and live in Florida. When not working he enjoys traveling, fishing and boating.


Joi Pacchiano DVM

Dr. Pacchiano began her college education as a journalism major at New York University but transferred to SUNY Albany where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology before realizing her true dream of becoming a veterinarian. In 2001, Dr. Pacchiano graduated from Oklahoma State University with honors as a member of the Society of Phi Zeta. After graduation, Dr. Pacchiano completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Long Island Veterinary Specialists in Plainview, NY. Since then, Dr. Pacchiano has been dedicated to the care and treatment of animals at Massapequa Hospital for Animals. She is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP), Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians (AEMV), and the House Rabbit Society. She lives in Merrick, NY with her husband, Slavic, their daughter, Giavanna, and currently three cats, Woody Bear, China, and Newman. When not shopping, cooking or baking, she burns off calories at the local gym.


Jennifer Crockett-Ho DVM

Dr. Jennifer Crockett-Ho, a native Long Islander, has been an associate veterinarian with the Massapequa Hospital for Animals since June 2007. She graduated Magna cum laude from the University of Scranton in PA with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2003 and then earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University in 2007. Dr. Crockett-Ho's interests include small animal medicine, surgery, and dentistry. Dr. Crockett-Ho enjoys spending time with her wonderful husband, Andrew, her family, and their pets, Chipper, Charlie, Stinky, and Snookie.


Giuseppina Bazan DVM

Dr. Giuseppina Bazan joined our team in 2009 after working at a no-kill shelter for several years. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Queens College(CUNY) in 2000, and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. Dr. Bazan has always loved caring for animals since a very young age. She was always eager to foster strays and nurse orphaned/injured birds while growing up in Queens, New York. Her interests include internal medicine, pain management, preventative care, and animal welfare. Dr. Bazan lives in Queens with her husband and two cats, Crystal and Ruby, and a green cheek conure, Kiwi. During her spare time she enjoys traveling, cooking, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. She understands the importance of the human-animal bond and in making the lives of pets and their owners happy and healthy.
