Math from the Mitten

Math from the Mitten is a mathematics tutoring service that offers mathematics help for Kindergarten through College students PLUS Math Coaching for Parents! Homeschool students are welcome!

Being quite familiar with the Common Core State Standards, I can help adults, parents and/or their children to successfully maneuver through them by using one or all of the following techniques:

- Investigate, remediate, and reinforce conceptual understanding of difficult math topics
- Work on fluency of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts by practicing using:

-- Flashcards – online and hands-on
- Improve skill development of operations using a variety of algorithms
- Explore mathematics using problem solving, logical reasoning, modeling, and appropriate tools
- Homework help
- Test preparation

For Parents: Math Coaching for Parents is mathematics professional development for parents – teaching the teachers. With over twenty years of experience teaching the content and methods of elementary and middle school math education to both pre-service and in-service teachers, I love to share what I know about the math and teaching skills of these grades to help parents better teach math to their children.
