Mattingly-Garland Baseball Academy

As many people are aware, Don Mattingly is one of the greatest players to ever play the game, but what many don't know, he is also one of the greatest TEACHERS of the game. It is this desire to teach the game the correct way that has lead us to founding the Mattingly/Garland Baseball Academy.
Now Don is going to be in Los Angeles guiding the Dodgers to the World Series , so he needs to have people he can trust, TEACHERS of the game like himself, to instruct at the academy
. The first instructor is, Ben Garland, a Murray State U, 4-year Letterman- 10 year American legion coach including 2 state titles, who has coached and trained hundreds of college players as well as a few professionals- see Aaron Barrett below. Ben is also a " bird dog " scout for the Dodgers.
Another instructor will be Taylor Mattingly, Don's oldest son, who played 3 years in the Yankee's system, and has taught baseball instruction for the past 10 years.
Another instructor will be Kipp Schutz who played both baseball and basketball at Indiana university. He played 4 years in the Orioles and Blue Jays organization. Kipp has been teaching for 6 years.
Finally, when he is in town, Preston Mattingly, Don's middle son,a former first round pick of the Dodgers,who is currently playing basketball @ Lamar University will be involved with instruction.Preston was one of the founding partners in Garland/Mattingly baseball and has been instructing for many years.
The common theme with all of these instructors is that have all been trained by Don. They all share the belief that there are certain aspects to the game of baseball that need to be taught at every age. Teaching these fundamentals will give each individual the best chance to be successful at what ever level their talent will allow. Teach the game the right way- play the game the right way.
