Mayfield Congregational Church - United Church of Christ

Mayfield Church is a unique congregation for its setting, kind of hard to describe. By outward appearances, we are a simple country church, but at our heart, we are a lively congregation of "fair-minded, free-thinking followers of Christ," equally proud of our deep roots in agriculture and our pioneering spirit in matters of social justice: the Underground Railroad in the 19th century, the first female pastor in DeKalb County in the 20th century, the first Open and Affirming UCC church in the county and the second in the Prairie Association in the 21st century. We have a long history of service as well, marked by generosity and guided by compassion and respect for all people and the earth. We believe God knows, cares for, and loves all persons; through Jesus Christ, God forgives and reconciles all persons; through the Spirit, God sustains and empowers all persons.
