The Marine Memorial Golf Course is the scenic star of Camp Pendleton located in the idyllic setting of Windmill Canyon with rolling foothills and mature trees. While there have been hundreds of golf course architects that have designed or redesigned courses in California, few have had the lasting impact of William P. “Billy” Bell, one of the earliest. Credited for bunker shaping, ingenuity and innovations with golf course construction, the Marine Memorial Golf Course, showcases Bell's finest layout and design with an 18-hole PGA championship course that is a challenge for the seasoned golfer, yet playable for the novice. Playing 6,865 from the tips, this par 72 layout takes full advantage of its secluded natural setting.
