Mckinney Flour Mill

Erected in 1872 by the Farmer's Alliance, and originally named the Collin County Mill and Elevator Company, the McKinney Flour Mill was one of the earliest mills associated with the developing grain processing industry. Due to the rich farmland of the Blackland Prairie, Collin County was one of the top producers of corn, wheat and oats. The arrival of the Houston and Texas Central Railroad made for easier agricultural shipping, and laid the groundwork for industry and growth in Collin County.Today, with historic charm and rustic elegance, this significant building is home to several businesses, and the backdrop for memorable events. The Flour Mill is envisioned to be further renovated and commercially viable for office, retail, and luxury urban living.
