Ed McNeill, his wife Nita and daughter Melissa opened McNeill Farms in Dothan, and started out about 23 years ago with mail order shelled peanuts and cracked pecans. From there, they grew their business from the ground up, selling boiled peanuts at a wide range of baseball, football and softball game fields and at their peak, 66 convenience stores. Now they sell them mainly at festivals like the National Peanut Festival, out of their Dothan headquarters on Taylor Road, and for church gatherings.
As well, crews are hired to work festivals selling boiled peanuts, chocolate peanuts, peanut brittle, cotton candy, plain salted and Cajun salted peanuts and drinks
