Meade School District

Meade School District, located in Meade and Lawrence Counties in western South Dakota, encompasses 3,100 square miles. With a student population of 2,654, it ranks 11th in K-12 enrollment among the 151 public school districts in South Dakota. Pupil-teacher ratios are 14.09 students per teacher in K-8, 8.5 students per teacher in rural K-8, and 14.6 students per teacher in grades 9-12.

The district office is located in Sturgis, which is home to Sturgis Elementary School, Sturgis Williams Middle School and Sturgis Brown High School. Other schools include Piedmont Valley Elementary School in Piedmont and Whitewood Elementary School in Whitewood. There are also five K-8 rural schools: Atall School, Elm Springs School, Enning/Union Center School, Hereford School and Opal School.
