Meals on Wheels Ministry mobilizes a vast network of volunteer and paid drivers who deliver hot, freshly prepared meals daily to 3,000 clients living in Gregg, Henderson, Smith, Van Zandt, Upshur, and Wood Counties. Although the meal is a critical part of our service, we believe that the friendly visit plays an invaluable role in enhancing our clients' quality of life. Volunteers not only offer the comfort of human interaction to individuals living in isolation, but the visit also offers a chance to observe a client's overall health and wellness. If a volunteer observes abuse, general decline, or even intervenes during an emergency, Meals on Wheels Ministry can take appropriate measures to ensure the safety and well-being of our clients. For many, Meals on Wheels is the final barrier between a life at home and a life in a nursing home.
