Meanwhile, Back in Saluda's Property Caretaking and Cabin Rentals is located in historic Saluda, North Carolina. Nestled in the middle of the woods with views of Brushy Ridge and Mt. Mitchell.

“Meanwhile” is a quiet retreat where one can read a book, hike along peaceful trail, fire up a Wood Fired Pizza Oven, sleep in a tree house, listen for the sounds of native friends, build a campfire, breathe fresh crisp air and watch the fog roll in between the hillsides.

If action and adventure are what you are looking for, the Green and French Broad Rivers are close by and Pisgah National Forest, Pearson’s Falls, Dupont State Forest, water falls and hundreds of miles of trails for both hiking, biking or horseback riding.

In addition to our farm and other Family projects, we direct “On Our Front Porch,” an Asbill-Beck Family Service project founded in 1989. For 20 years, we have collected and distributed clothing, household items, letters to service men & women, food, shelter, and other services to those in need.

Our school, Eleanor Irene School, is part of Herman's Garden, a Community Garden and Seed Sharing Project sponsored by Seed Savers Exchange.
