Meeting House Cooperative Preschool

The Meeting House Cooperative Preschool (MHCP) provides an exceptional, developmentally appropriate education for preschoolers. MHCP uses the emergent learning curriculum model as the basis for the children’s education program. This developmentally based curriculum accepts the children as active learners who learn through play. The adult guides the children through productive and meaningful play. It is through the adult guidance that the children develop independence and responsibility for their learning.

MHCP serves 79 children and 66 families in 2012-2013. There are fourteen full time staff members including the Director and Assistant to the Director. The school also employs Music & Movement and Sign Language teachers. The breakdown of individual classes is as follows: 2 Day 2's Class -- 8 or 9 children (Thursday and Friday); 3 Day 2's Class -- 8 or 9 children (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday); 2 Day 3's Class -- 10 or 11 children (Thursday and Friday); 3 Day 3's Class -- 10 or 11 children (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday); 5 Day 3's Class -- 10 children (Monday - Friday); 2 classes of 4/5 Class -- 12 to 15 children (Monday - Friday). In addition to the regular classes (9:00-12:00), an Extended Day Program is offered for the ten to twelve oldest children in the 4/5 classes from 12-1:30pm. The school year begins in mid-September and concludes at the end of May. The hours of the school are from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
