Mel Fisher's Treasures embodies the legacy of Mel Fisher and his persistent quest to find the wreck site of the Nuestra Senora de Atocha which sank in 1622. Mel started every day for 16 years with his mantra, Today's the day! Finally on July 20, 1985 after years of hard work and perseverance it was the day. To date approximately half a billion dollars in historic treasure and artifacts have been recovered and there is still a fortune in treasure that remains to be found. and $400 million dollars in treasure was brought to the surface. Mel's son, daughter and grandchildren continue the quest for the elusive Sterncastle of the Atocha and the remaining cargo of her sister-ship the Santa Margarita.
In recent years Mel Fisher's Treasures has expanded to search for new shipwrecks in addition to the remaining sections of the Atocha and Santa Margarita. In April 2011 the initial survey work began on a project dubbed The Lost Merchant. At this time details of this project remain confidential- privy to only the Fisher family, staff and private investors. Visit www.MelFisher.com for more information.
