Melfa is a town in Accomack County on the Eastern Shore of Virginia in the United States. The racial makeup of the town was 82.44% White, 15.78% African American, 0.22% Native American, 1.33% from other races, and 0.22% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.22% of the population.There were 183 households out of which 32.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.1% were married couples living together, 10.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.4% were non-families. 22.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 2.93.
