Melmark New England

Established in 1998, Melmark New England is a division of Melmark, Inc., a 501 c (3) a human services organization based in Berwyn, PA, that has been in existence since 1966. Melmark New England is a private, community-based organization in Andover, MA, dedicated to serving children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), acquired brain injury, neurological diseases and disorders, co-morbidity and severe challenging behaviors.

Melmark New England provides educational, vocational, clinical, residential and consultative services, personally designed for each individual in an environment of warmth, care and respect. Our goal is to help each individual served have a meaningful life and attain the highest possible level of personal growth and achievement. With our adolescent students we strive to teach them functional vocational skills that will lead to a lifetime of meaningful employment after they graduate from our program.

Melmark New England currently serves 120 children, and their families, throughout Massachusetts in our day-school program, and another 500 students in more than 40 schools within the Massachusetts school systems through our consultative network utilizing an interdisciplinary team approach founded upon the evidence-based principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). ABA is a scientific approach that relies on experimentally derived learning principles in order to bring about socially significant changes in behavior. Decades of research support the use of this approach for children with developmental disorders and challenging behaviors.

We serve 120 students in our day-school program, 40 of whom also attend our 24-hour-a-day residential program. In order to assist as many students and families as we are able outside our school, Melmark New England currently provides extensive consultation services to more than 400 children state-wide. We also offer parent and family training throughout Massachusetts.
