We are a congregation that affirms everyone. We seek to put into daily practice the welcome that is extended to everyone. We affirm each person as a child of God and we invite everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, age, ability or financial situation, to walk with us in a faith journey responsive to God's call. The breadth and treasure of the full ministry of this church is available to all people who would share in our covenant.
We believe in a Trinitarian God, experiencing Creator, Christ, and Holy Spirit in our congregational life and personal faith. However, we believe that each person is allowed to interpret scripture and faith freely. We base membership in the UCC on affirmation of faith, rather than statements of creed.
The UCC is made up of local congregations, and regional and national bodies, joined together in covenant relationships, considering Jesus Christ the head of the church. In addition, from the Salem Covenant of 1629 we have developed our own covenant, which we say together in weekly worship:
In the love of truth and in the spirit of Jesus, we unite for the worship of God and the service of humanity,
and as the Lord's free people, we agree to walk together in all God's ways made known, or to be made known to us.
It is within this framework that we are living out our faith in this church community.
