Meraki

Mental illnesses are medical conditions that disrupt a persons thinking, feeling, mood, ability to relate to others and daily functions. 1 in 4 people are diagnosed with mental illnesses, 36% of those with a mental disorders are being treated, only 13.4% of that treatment is minimally adequate. The “stigma” of mental disorders have made us feel ashamed of our illnesses; scared to reach out and ask for help, help that could save our lives. We have turned to self destructing habits that have caused an up-rise in our society today of addictions, self harm and death.

Meraki was created November 2015 by Paige Graham and Amber Petrillo, who bother suffered from mental illness. After confiding in one another about their daily battle, together they found a way to control and overcome these demons; that have controlled their everyday lives. By creating Meraki we hope to stop the stigma and help others with their own battles— make them feel more in control of their own lives.

Paige and Amber have found a way to live a healthier life for themselves, they hope by offering their products to those who are suffering, that they can bring a sense of peace into their life and help them begin to start their story over.

Meraki is the Greek word that means, To do something with soul, creativity or love, when you leave a piece of yourself in your work. Our disease is a part of our everyday life, Meraki has taught us we can start our stories over and make our disease the work we put our soul, creativity and love into.
