Meriwether Springs Vineyard

Meriwether Springs Vineyard is the Charlottesville area’s newest and best-located vineyard estate. Located a mile from the town of Ivy and minutes from the University of Virginia and downtown, it is the perfect venue for your wedding or special event.

The property features a spacious and well-appointed main house which, at nearly 5,000 square feet, offers plenty of room for either your family or multiple family gatherings.

Situated on 40 beautiful and private acres, including a four acre vineyard prominent from the house, Meriwether Springs is a sanctuary of natural beauty.

The vineyard sits on the original estate of the famed explorer, Meriwether Lewis. Lewis was commissioned by Thomas Jefferson to lead an exploration of the recently acquired Louisiana Purchase and to continue until the expedition reached the Pacific Coast. After a long and dangerous journey, the explorer and his party reached the mouth of the Columbia River at the Pacific Ocean. Meriwether Lewis returned to Charlottesville, briefed Thomas Jefferson on the expedition’s findings and maintained a close friendship with President Jefferson throughout his lifetime.

One of the original family springhouses remains undisturbed and accessible along a very short walking path from the property’s main building.
