Merrimac Heights Academy

Merrimac Heights Academy offers a rigorous, yet highly individualized, trans-disciplinary curriculum, which drives an integrated approach that offers its students an opportunity to acquire and apply skills in real-life contexts. Special attention is given to the College and Career Readiness expectations that highlight such characteristics as independence, the determination to acquire knowledge and communication skills. All staff at MHA receive training in aligning curriculum with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. MHA teaching staff are trained to map the curriculum incorporating a language-based approach to instruction.

Both career exploration and specialized career training is provided to students at Merrimac Heights Academy. Students obtain work force skills in preparation for transition to a career. Students engage in volunteer opportunities and apprenticeships on and off campus, in addition to joining a rotational exploration of vocations designed to investigate their interests, vocational aptitudes and pre-requisite skills. Embedded within each vocational experience is the coaching of the necessary social skills that enhance collegial and employee/employer relationships, as well as community and client interactions.
