Families needing long-term services for a Loved One work with Merry Glen to find a solution that's all about them, not us. We provide appropriate and compassionate care through a Family Cooperative model.
Our 30+ person Team provides dedicated and loving support to the Merry Glen community on a 24-hour basis.
Every Loved One has two voting members on our Board and policies are set by Loved Ones and their families.
Merry Glen supports public services based in best practice and serious research. Residents deserve to be served in a nuanced system recognizing that not all persons with developmental or intellectual disabilities are the same. “Normalization” requires “customization”, and not all persons belong in the same home or community setting, regardless of professional biases and cost controls.
Merry Glen recognizes its unique position as a model of service that was once considered pioneer but is no longer in favor among many articulate self-advocates, the state bureaucracy, and other advocacy groups.
Merry Glen’s orientation demands outcome based research before policies are enacted rather than policies base on a generally accepted orthodoxy.
