In 1999, Hurricane Floyd devastated eastern North Carolina. As members of Goldston United Methodist Church, Charles Fields, Jody Harris and Phillip Luther, felt it was their duty to help. After heading east, the team experienced firsthand the devastation, which became the force that drives the team to giving. The three of them, as well as other volunteers, created what is now known as Meshach's Carpenters.
Meshach's Carpenters is a disaster relief group that assists families in times of need. Starting with only a small group of twenty, the group is now continuing to grow in number. After rebuilding homes in North Carolina, and churches both in North Carolina and Mississippi, the team has not only grown in spirit, but in size. It is a non-denomination group that has grown from two chuches to over thirty. Meshach's Carpenters is equipped with tools and a willingness to work, funded only by donations, fundraisers and prayers.
