Mesquite Horse Rescue and Outreach Program

Mesquite Horse Rescue and Outreach Program became a thought after my brothers and I started attending horse camps in 2008. We met Sy Johonson, an O'ohdam elder, who opened our eyes to the use of horses and their ability to teach us power, strength, love, respect, manners, self worth and hard work. We began to think this is something we could share to our people and the children of the Pascua Yaqui Communities. Thus with the help of our father, mother, elders, Sundance family, community and children, our vision of horse camp was set to take place and its first year was in 2011.
