More about Messiah Lutheran Church

In brief, here is a simple summary of what we believe and teach.

As the Bible declares, God created men and women and determined how they should live.

Ever since the Fall into sin, everyone is sinful by nature, breaks his holy commandments daily, and deserves to spend eternity in hell.

God is merciful and gracious and has provided us a means of salvation. God sent his own Son, Jesus Christ, to live innocently for us, to die on the cross as our substitute for sin, and to rise in victory on the third day.
Through faith in Jesus Christ we now stand holy and righteous in God’s sight and receive the free gift of heaven.

The Bible is the only means of knowing God’s good news and the way of eternal life.

As the Bible teaches, baptism is a means of God’s grace intended for infants as well as adults. Holy Communion is the body and blood of Christ received with bread and wine for forgiveness, new life, and salvation.

“Confessional Lutherans” hold firmly to all the teachings of the evangelical Lutheran Church as they are found in the Book of Concord. The Book of Concord was compiled in 1580 by Lutheran theologians. It includes the three Christian or ecumenical creeds (the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed) together with six Lutheran confessional writings: the Augsburg Confession, the Apology (or Defense) to the Augsburg Confession, the Small and Large Catechisms of Dr. Martin Luther, the Smalcald Articles, and the Formula of Concord. We subscribe to these six Lutheran Confessions because we believe that they are an accurate summary of all Biblical teaching.
