Michael Hickey, LMT

I hold a license in massage therapy from the state of Massachusetts as well as a bachelor’s degree in psychology, cinema studies, and English literature from New York University. I have also completed advanced training in chronic pain management and treatment with Lenore Bryck LMT, Csyt. Currently I am apprenticing with Lenore and serving as teacher’s assistant in a course for body workers in assessment and treatment of physical pain entitled, "How to Get People Out of Pain."

It is my belief that when one encounters injury, discomfort, or pain, the body will orient itself toward healing when a supportive environment is present. I use techniques that encourage the nervous system to engage in processes that are guided by eons of evolution to promote growth and healing.

I work to understand each client as a system of integrated parts; all of which have unique relationships to each other. Therapeutic movement occurs when both I and my client become acquainted with the mechanisms by which the system functions. Therefore, I will assess and inform clients on structural patterns in their body that contribute to pain and chronic tension. I also work with clients to intelligently design a course of treatment with agreed upon therapeutic goals.

Rates:

30 minutes: $45

60 minutes: $80

90 minutes: $110
