More about Mill Creek Dam and Bennington Lake - WallaWallaUSACE

Recreation was designated as a mission of the Mill Creek Project in 1964. Bennington Lake offers approximately 20 miles of trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding. The Lake is filled to a recreation pool of elevation 1205' above sea level in the spring once the risk of flooding is low. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout by the State of Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife in the spring; however, once the Corps of Engineers water right ends in June the lake elevation begins to drop and no more fish are stocked. The lake is open to vehicle access throughout the year and is open from 6:00 am until 10:00 pm daily.

Rooks Park is a developed day use area. It is open from 7:00 AM to Sunset April 1st to October 15th. After October 15th the gates are closed and the water is shut off, but visitors are welcome to walk in and use the trails. While visiting Rooks Park dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet. Rooks Park has a reservable shelter that costs $50.00 per day to reserve. You can reserve it by visiting recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777.
