Wanda Hopson began as the coordinator of the Forsythia Pageant with the help of her two daughters, Lauren and Stephanie, in 2004. The pageant was started in order to give young Forsythians a place to showcase their hometown spirit. The Forsythia Pageant is a place where girls and young ladies can participate in the celebration of their hometown and be more involved. We are dedicated to teach these young people self-esteem, confidence, and poise and we use this pageant as a platform in order to do so. Wanda strived to make the pageant a bigger success every year. With the support of the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce she was been able to do just that. The Forsythia Pageant is a Monroe County Chamber of Commerce Sanctioned event. In 2011, due to unforseen circumstances, the leadership of the Forsythia Pageant was passed down to Lauren and Stephanie. Lauren is now the director of the Miss Forsythia Pageant and is excited to continue in her mother's footsteps.
