Miss Ruby's Boutique

Our dog, Ruby, was the start of this crazy project. Dog is a term we use loosely around here, she seems to be part kitty, koala, goat and rabbit more than a dog. Who knew that something that is 13 pounds could have so much personality. We live in New Hampshire so our poor little dog from Tennessee was COLD. I got started searching for a coat. Ruby is one of the hardest dogs to find a coat that would fit her for the winter. I tried about 8 before finally deciding to make my own. All of the ones we tried were either ill fitting or ill designed or just plain ugly.The poor dog wore a crocheted sweater that looked like a sock for 2 years before I got frustrated enough to make something for her. I started making my own pattern, it had to fit her curved back (she has a curve in her spine from before we rescued her), and it had to fasten on the sides not underneath and it had to cover her chest. Jackets that fastened underneath and in the chest were a struggle when we would try to fasten them she would become jello dog and just flop. Finally after about 3 days of trial and error, and lots of treats we had a jacket, one that was cute, and it fastened on the sides and covered her chest. After that everyone I worked with and my family members wanted one. I decided to start my own little side business by starting with people I knew and branching out to craft fairs and now etsy.

Since then I have married my college sweetheart. My own wedding really stemmed my love for creating affordable wedding decorations and photo props. Every bride wants their day to be perfect, and affordable.I was no different. We were planning a big wedding on a small budget, (which is the best way to do it in my opinion.) I looked online and in stores for hours upon hours expecting to find perfect items only to find the ones I liked were WAY too expensive or not at all what I thought they would be. I started by making a few things like the cake topper and a few signs. With the help of my grand mother and the rest of my family we ended up making 99%of our wedding decorations. All in all I got the dream day I wanted on a shoestring budget. I want other brides to be able to have the day they want without sacrificing a huge amount of money. All of my wedding items are made with the greatest attention to detail and cost. I strive to keep cost in mind for all of my products.

Recently my grandma has joined me in creating items for my etsy shop. She has her own line of tissue box cover that look like mini sofas. She also sells them at a local store that features other crafters. As well as selling them at local craft fairs. Grandma Becky is a wild woman at 87 years old she frequently cruises with close friends and attends horse shows to support her daughters and grand daughters that show their Morgan horses on the national level. In the past 2 years her two youngest daughters have both won national titles at the Morgan Grand National and World Championships in Oklahoma City.
