More about Missoula Community Wildlife Habitat

On March 9, 2015, Missoula Mayor John Engen proclaimed Missoula Wildlife Week and announced a partnership with the National Wildlife Federation to promote the creation and conservation of wildlife habitats throughout the Garden City.

The goal is to recognize Missoula as Montana’s first certified Community Wildlife Habitat, promoting the use of native plants and landscaping to develop natural habitats that attract pollinators, songbirds and other desirable wildlife (NOT bears and deer), use little or no fertilizer and pesticides, and require modest watering.

What you can do:
Create (and certify!) your wildlife garden, whether you have an apartment balcony or a suburban yard, a schoolyard or a business.

Apply for a Neighborhood Grant to create a certified wildlife habitat with your neighbors.
Check out NWF’s Certified Wildlife Habitat Facebook page for valuable information and opportunities to help wildlife at home and in our community.

Contact the Missoula-based NWF Sustainability and Habitat Educator for information, or if you’d like to be part of the Missoula Wildlife Habitat Team.
