Monroe County Fire and EMS Training Day

The Henrietta Fire District in conjunction with The Monroe County Fire Chiefs Association, The Monroe County Volunteer Fire Fighters Association, The Monroe County Fire and EMS Explorers Association, and Wegmans, Inc are hosting a day of training for members of the various Monroe County Fire and EMS Explorer programs on September 20, 2014. This day of training will be held at the Henrietta Fire District Training Center at 60 Erie Station Road (The corner of Erie Station and East River Roads). The day starts at 7:30am and finishes at 4:00pm.

Fire and EMS Exploring has a strong history in Monroe County. Fire & Emergency Service Career Exploring is open to young men and women ages 14 (and completed the 8th grade) and not yet 21 years old with an interest in learning more about careers in the field of Fire & Emergency Services.

Fire & Emergency Services Exploring is a hands-on program that exposes participants to many career experiences, leadership opportunities, and community service activities. The primary goals of the program are to help young adults choose a career path within fire and emergency services and to challenge them to become responsible citizens of their communities and country.

The Explorers attending the September 20, 2014 event will have the opportunity to train with Monroe County Fire and EMS professionals (both career and volunteer) in the areas of Ladder Company operations, Engine Company operations, donning and doffing of personal protective equipment, Accident Victim Extrication, medical patient assessment, traumatic patient assessment, bandaging and bleeding control, and spinal immobilization.

This daylong event will host 80 Fire and 40 EMS Explorers from around Monroe County and has the support of over 50 Fire and EMS professionals from various Monroe County Fire Departments in the roles of instructors, advisers, and support staff.
