The Moorings Inn is a family owned business. We are in our 5th generation of innkeepers. The Inn overlooks the mountain range and great harbor of Mount Desert . Every mountain of Acadia can be viewed from the inn property. This is a view that you and your family will always treasure.

Our historic oceanside inn will give you the feeling that you have been transported to a simpler time and place with its nautical theme, period antiques, and mariner appointments such as finely detailed ship models, maps, and tools.

We offer some of the best oceanside views of Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island. Located in Southwest Harbor near the southern entrance to Somes Sound, the only natural fjord on the eastern US coast, you will treasure the panoramic landscape of mountains, ocean, and harbor yachts.

Relax along the shore, have a BBQ, cook some marshmallows over the open fire, or take your shoes off and walk in the water. We have bikes for your enjoyment or you may take some boating or sailing lessons through Mansell Boat Rentals located on the same property. If experienced, you may rent larger craft to get a closer view of Bear Island Lighthouse or visit some out-islands.
