Moraine Valley Fire Science and EMS Programs

The Moraine Valley Fire Science and Emergency Medical Services programs offer three degree options for students as they follow their path: An Associate of Applied Science in Fire Service Operations, an Associate of Applied Science in Fire Service Management, and an Associate of Applied Science in Emergency Medical Services.

The Fire Service Operations AAS degree is designed to give students, who wish to become firefighters, the education and skills required to be qualified for fire department initial eligibility lists. The core classes for the degree contain the Emergency Medical Technician course and the Fire Academy courses.

The Fire Service Management AAS degree is designed to give students, who are already firefighters, the education necessary to be eligible for promotional opportunities. The core classes for the degree contain all the courses required for the Illinois State Fire Marshal Fire Officer 1 and the Fire Officer 2 courses.

The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) A.A.S. degree is designed to give students who wish to become paramedics, with either a public or private ambulance service, the knowledge and skills necessary to qualify for the Illinois Department of Public Health Paramedic License. The core classes for the degree include all Paramedic courses.

In addition to the degree programs, the MVCC FIS-EMS Programs offer a fire academy annually during the fall semester as well as SEVEN Emergency Medical Technician- Basic certificate courses during the Spring and Fall semesters and THREE courses during the summer semester.
