The Morningside College Art Club
2014-2015 Constitution
Article II. Purpose of the Organization
Section I. Maintain a high standard of quality art education on campus and in the community.
Section II. Sponsor service projects such as speakers, Symposia, exhibitions, etc.
Section III. Promote an exchange of ideas.
Section IV. Promote all areas of the visual arts.
Section V. Promote the Morningside Art Department by being involved in or off campus activities and or projects.
Article III. Membership
Section I. Membership is free to all Morningside students, alumni, and faculty who are interested in the visual arts.
Section II. There shall be two levels of membership. Those levels are active and inactive.
Section III. Active members shall be defined as voting members and may go on Morningside Art Club sanctioned trips.
Section IV. Inactive members shall be defined as non-voting members and cannot go on Morningside Art Club sanctioned trips.
Section V. All members are considered active at the beginning of each semester and remain so until absent from Art Club business for a period of one quarter of a semester.
Section VI. Inactive members shall become active members by either successfully serving on a committee or by attending the majority of the meetings in a quarter after they are declared inactive.
Article IV. Officers
Section I. The officers of this chapter shall be President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
Section II. The duties of the officers shall be:
The duties of the President are as follows:
Act as the organizational head of Art Club
Preside over all meetings including executive, general, and special
Act as a non-voting member in all matters unless designated otherwise by the Executive Council
The duties of the Vice President are as follows:
Receive all duties as designated by the President, Executive Council, or general membership
Oversee and organize all Art Club activities and events
Act as President in the absence of the President
The duties of the Secretary are as follows:
Record accurate records of all Art Club meetings and activities
Act as membership chair, documenting all past and current members
Manage internal correspondence within Art Club
Oversee publication of all Art Club materials unless otherwise specified by the Executive Council
The duties of the Treasurer are as follows:
Oversee the finances of Art Club
Manage all monetary funds
Regularly report on the financial status of the organization to the general membership
Section III. The Executive Council shall consist of the officers and advisors of the chapter.
Section IV. Officers shall be elected for the following year at the second to last official meeting of the organization during the spring semester with a mandatory executive meeting the following week. At this meeting the Executive Council will program the activities for the academic year.
Article V. Meetings
Section I. Meetings shall be held at least on a monthly bases, and at the discretion of the Executive Council.
Article VI. Quorum
Section I. One half of the active membership shall constitute a quorum for official business.
Article VII. Fiscal Year
Section I. The fiscal year shall begin with the start of the spring semester.
Section II. There are no dues needed at this time.
Article VIII. Committees
Section I. Committees may be formed at the discretion of the majority of the voting members present at any meeting.
Section II. Committees shall consist of a chairman and at least three other members.
The chairman must be an active member of the club.
Inactive members may serve on any committee unless the committee deals with amendments in the constitution
Section III. Committees shall be formed for a specific purpose and dissolved at the completion of its intended purpose and a presentation of its accomplished work at the next official Art Club meeting.
Article IX. Amendments
Section I. This constitution or any part thereof may be amended by a two-thirds vote of all active members preceded by a formal presentation of those amendments at an official meeting.
Section II. Bylaws may be adopted, amended or repealed at any time by a single majority vote of all active members at any meeting.
