My pottery is designed to be used, loved, and an active part of daily routines. Each hand holds a mug or bowl in their own way, each person's eyes are attracted to subtle changes in shape or texture, and thus each person will be attracted to pieces that speak to them, to their way of connecting with the object.
I am inspired by natural elements:
-mountains and valleys
-rivers and trees
-flowers and stones
These elements blend in my works of clay with other inspiration such as:
-East Indian styled patterns and fabrics such as batik
-Scandinavian clean lines and utilitarian design historical pots and patterns
-abstractions of folk art
I thrill at the differences in texture from worn surfaces, showing age and use through time, and sleek clean lines Scandinavian design. The imperfections and subtleties that are inherent in handmade objects captivate my attention.
