The Mother of Invention….

I’m Steve Crowley, the owner of Mountain Home Solutions. I've faced many challenges common to mountain homes. I own a log home and I know. It's surprising how quickly sun & weather can deteriorate wood, but it's downright scary when you notice your deck is settling & unlevel. What do you do when you learn that unseen leaks have caused wood flooring & trim to rot? What do you do when you notice a new stain on an interior wall?

Mountain property can, in time, begin to have issues that were not addressed during home construction. Driveways become rutted or eroded due to improper drainage; retaining walls thrown up with no engineering fail; or limited parking space is completely inadequate when you have guests.

The rural nature of mountain homes presents more problems. It can be hard to get someone to come out to provide a quote. Reputable, professional contractors are seldom nearby, so their costs can be high. The "local boys" can do the job cheaper, but there are some ifs: if they show up; if they are tidy; if they do quality work.

Being a DIY guy with an engineering background, this combination of challenges has led me to do the work myself. I learned that the recipe is simple: add tools, knowledge, time & effort, then conscientiously apply them with care. Over the years, I found very few people who could match the quality of my own work - simply because few follow the recipe.

The saying “If you want something done right, do it yourself” usually holds true for me. However, I offer an amended version of it for those who don’t have the time, skill or inclination to do things themselves: “If you want something done right and can’t do it yourself, call Mountain Home Solutions.”
