The Mountain Top Arboretum is a public garden in the northern Catskill Mountains of New York State. We display the range of native and exotic trees and shrubs that can successfully adapt to the rigorous climate at 2,400 feet elevation. Founded in 1977, the Arboretum now has over 1,500 accessioned trees and shrubs on display in 183 acres of botanical collections and natural areas featuring native plants and trees. The Arboretum is located within the New York City watershed, and plays an active role in building environmental awareness of water issues in the context of land management. The varied habitats provide excellent birding opportunities.
