The Mountain View High School Foundation, Inc. is organized exclusively for the purpose of supporting, encouraging, and promoting higher education within the Mountain View High School community in Fairfax, Virginia.
Begun under the auspices of a 1999 federal School-to-Work grant awarded to Mountain View Alternative High School by the Virginia Department of Education, Office of Business Industry Relations, the Mountain View Scholarship Fund began. For the duration of the grant, 1999-2003, all scholarship monies raised were matched by the grantee, the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Although Commonwealth fiscal restraints, beginning in 2003, brought Virginia state support to an end, the scholarship fund survived through generous community support.
In January 2011 the Mountain View High School Foundation, Inc. earned 5013c status as a not-for-profit organization.
The foundation is 100% volunteer-run, so 100% of donations go directly to supporting students.
Donations are 100% tax deductible.
