More about Mt. Carmel Deliverance Center

The History of the MCDC is a testimony to what God can do when there is a righteous desire to do His will. He will give you the desire of your heart. In the years 2000-2001, the Lord began to bless and spiritually elevate Pastor Julian A. Jones in the area of running revivals throughout the southeast coast of Georgia. These revivals changed people’s lives and caused them to make decisions about their souls. It was during one of these revivals at the Mt. Carmel Holiness Church in Riceboro, Georgia, when a small group of people from the South Effingham County area heard about the service through the evangelism efforts of some of the saints from Guyton, Georgia.

During these revivals, many souls were blessed and saved. Many came to a new understanding of Holiness and began to fellowship with the Mt. Carmel Holiness Church, making the almost seventy (70) mile trip one-way several times a week to be fed the Word of God. But those who made the trip said “no distance was too far to get a good meal”. There were many more who had experienced a move of God through the man of God, Pastor Jones, but who couldn’t make the trip every week, yet they expressed a desire to be a part of the ministry.

In September 2002, Pastor Jones spoke prophetically at a service in Mt. Carmel Holiness Church and said that 2002-2003 would be a year of increase for the Mt. Carmel family and that God had directed him to establish a work in the Southeast Effingham area to be able to harvest souls for the kingdom.

After much prayer and diligent searching for a place of worship by Pastor Jones and the members, they had no success. Pastor Jones was instructed by God to go to the Port Wentworth/Rincon area and there he found a suitable place of worship. At that location, the manager of the establishment opened the doors of the Banquet Room and told Pastor Jones the fellowship could use it every Sunday.

Great joy exploded among the saints because God spoke it and it came to pass. The first business meeting was held on February 7, 2003 for the purpose of organizing this church; officers were then selected. Pastor Julian A. Jones was unanimously approved to serve as pastor of the new church.

The last item of business was to choose the name of the new church. To reflect and honor the church, which it was birthed out of, the members present selected the name Mt. Carmel Deliverance Center (MCDC) and selected the same motto “Where God Answers by Fire”. On February 16, 2003, the very first service was held at Holiday Inn Banquet Room. The sermon was preached by Pastor Julian A. Jones.

The topic was “We Are Well Able”. The Spirit of the Lord moved in the first service and many were blessed. We are now in our tenth year of existence and the LORD has been good to us. We have experienced some difficult days, but through it all, we have learned to trust in Jesus. The church has increased from 22 to almost 300 members. The LORD is good.

In 2005, because of the prayers of the saints, Mt. Carmel Deliverance Center purchased five acres of land on Stokes Avenue in Rincon, Georgia with the expressed purpose of building a new sanctuary. Seeing that the ministry had outgrown its first location; in February of 2007, the City Council of Rincon, Georgia gave MCDC the final approval to begin the construction of its new 11,000 sq. ft. 440-seat sanctuary. On March 28, 2009 MCDC dedicated its new sanctuary to the Lord at 200 Stokes Avenue; Rincon, Georgia. The theme for the dedication ceremony was “A Chosen Place for a Chosen People for a Chosen Purpose.”

From small beginnings, the LORD has enlarged our territory and brought increase. Our ministry consists of Men, Women, Ushers, Armor Bearers, Prison, Hospitality, Community Outreach, Drama, Hospital Visitation, Mentoring Program, Transportation, Children’s Church, Praise & Worship, Pastoral Aid, Nursing Home, Music, Finance, Youth & Young Adult, Benevolence, Administration, Sunday School, and Christian Education. See what the LORD has done for us! God has truly given us two humble servants in the presence of Bishop Julian & Minister Valerie Renee Jones; so we solicit your prayers as we continue to be “The Church Where God Answers By Fire”.
