Mt Citra Organic Farm

We are a 6 acre family farm located in Citra, FL. We raised Pastured poultry, pork, and certified organic produce. We have a farm store on our property where you can purchase our produce and meats as well as produce, meats, and packaged food from other local producers and farmers.

We live the lifestyle and previously owned an organic grocery store. After nearly 10 years of working with local farmers and watching the industry get bought up by big ag and big business, we decided to get out of the grocery industry and start growing for ourselves. We have witnessed how broken our food system is through owning the store, and have been involved with the organic and Non-GMO movement for over 15 years. We were one of the first Non-GMO Project supporting retailers and have organized March against Monsanto events. We have been involved in various forms of food activism and helping to reform the farm bill for many years.

We raise our animals and our produce to the highest standards with love and respect for the animals and the land. We truly believe in what we are doing and have a high amount of integrity. We select our animals and our seeds based on purity, ability to live pasture, and follow the guidelines of organic standards and the Slow Food Movement.

Our American Guinea Hogs are a heritage breed that is truly a pasture raised animal. They roam freely throughout the farm grazing on acorns, grasses, and produce we bring them from the field. Also known as the Pineywoods Guinea, Guinea Forest Hog, Acorn Eater, and Yard Pig, the breed was once the most numerous pig breed found on homesteads in the Southeast. Today there are fewer than 2,000 and are listed on the Farm Animal Conservency’s endangered list. We are working to bring back this rare breed.

Our chickens are truly pasture raised and supplemented with Non-GMO Verified grains and organically grown produce. We have both the traditional "Cornish-cross” aka: Hollywood chickens, and heritage breeds that lay rainbow colored eggs, ranging in color from pink, blue, and brown.

In addition to chicken and pork, we also raise Muscovy ducks. If you've never eaten Muscovy, you should know that it's really something. Muscovy is not at all greasy like other duck meat, it's more like extra-special veal, with a fine texture, very little fat, and a unique and delicious flavor. It's the finest duck there is, and maybe one of the finest of all meats. Muscovy has 50 percent more breast meat than other ducks, and the skin has 50% less fat than the Moulard or Pekin varieties! Duck is one of the most versatile meats and pairs very well with a large range of ingredients and seasonings.
